Privacy Policy
This page sets out what personal information Sun Bingo gathers from visitors, why, where it is kept, who it is shared with, and how to exercise your rights under UK privacy law. The technical counterpart — cookies, analytics, browser storage — is on the Cookie Policy page; this page is the human-readable version of that same arrangement.
Sun Bingo runs as an independent informational platform; broader background is on the About page. This privacy policy covers the Sun Bingo website only. Once a reader clicks through to an operator's own site, that operator's privacy policy takes over; Sun Bingo does not share data with operators beyond the narrow form described below.
1. What Sun Bingo is
Sun Bingo publishes reviews and guides covering online casinos accessible to UK players. The flagship operator review is the Sun Bingo Casino homepage. The site does not host games, run player accounts, take deposits, hold balances or process withdrawals. No signup, no login. A default visit involves no data exchange beyond standard web traffic. Where Sun Bingo does collect personal data — for instance, when someone writes in through the contact channels — this page describes precisely what happens to it.
2. UK privacy law context
Personal information at Sun Bingo is handled in accordance with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, together with the thirteen UK GDPR principles administered by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). European visitors have their GDPR rights honoured here as well. Californian visitors have their CCPA rights respected to the extent they apply. Wherever a stricter rule applies under any of these frameworks, the stricter rule takes precedence.
3. What data Sun Bingo collects
Three buckets: technical traffic data, voluntarily submitted contact data, and aggregated analytics.
| Category | What is collected | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Technical traffic data | IP address (anonymised after 24h), browser type, device type, page URL requested, timestamp, referrer. | Serve pages, prevent abuse, debug performance issues. | Legitimate interest under UK GDPR Article 6 legitimate interest. |
| Voluntary contact data | Name, email address, message content, supporting documents you choose to attach. Submitted only if you write to us. | Reply to your enquiry. | Consent under UK GDPR consent basis (you provide the data; we use it for the stated purpose). |
| Aggregated analytics | Pseudonymous traffic statistics generated by Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation enabled. | Understand which pages are useful and which are not. | Consent (you can decline analytics cookies on first visit). |
Sun Bingo does not collect: financial details (no payment processing happens on this domain), gambling-account credentials (no accounts are managed here), biometric data, location beyond country level (inferred from anonymised IP) or special-category data covering race, religion, health, sexual orientation or political opinion. Targeted advertising and remarketing are not used at all; the funding model that supports the site is detailed on the Affiliate Disclosure page.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
The cookies Sun Bingo uses, the third-party services that drop them, and how to control them are detailed on the Cookie Policy page. The short version: strictly necessary cookies (page loading, consent banner state, abuse prevention) are always set; analytics and affiliate-tracking cookies are only set with your consent through the cookie banner; the selection can be changed at any point using the footer link.
5. Affiliate links and operator-side tracking
Clicking an outbound operator link on Sun Bingo sets three things in motion. First, an internal redirect at /go logs the click for analytics purposes (regardless of whether you complete the journey). Second, your browser is forwarded across to the operator's site. Third, the operator may set its own cookies and treat the visit as a referral attribution. Sun Bingo passes neither your name, your email nor any other identifying personal data to the operator. The operator simply gains the knowledge that "a visitor arrived from Sun Bingo". Should you go on to register an account on the operator's site, that registration is governed by the operator's privacy policy, not by this one.
6. How long data is retained
- IP addresses: uncut IPs are stored briefly — no more than 24 hours, purely for abuse prevention — and then anonymised through truncation of the final octet on IPv4 or the trailing 80 bits on IPv6. Once anonymised, those IPs may sit in the traffic database for up to 14 months.
- Contact correspondence: emails and any attached files are retained for 24 months for follow-up and audit, then deleted unless still under active discussion.
- Analytics events: Google Analytics 4 data is retained for 14 months under our configuration, then deleted automatically.
- Cookie consent record: the consent record is stored locally inside your browser for 12 months, after which the consent banner returns.
Should statute oblige a longer retention period — say, HMRC record-keeping rules covering affiliate-related accounting — the affected data sits in storage strictly for the legally mandated interval and is locked off from any other use.
7. Who Sun Bingo shares data with
Three tightly controlled categories sit on the share-list. Service providers handling parts of the Sun Bingo infrastructure — web hosting, content delivery, email — each operate under a written data-processing agreement that limits their use of the data to delivering the service. Analytics providers (Google Analytics 4) receive IP-anonymised traffic data only, with no personally identifying information attached. Law-enforcement bodies and regulators get data only on receipt of a valid legal demand, and only the data covered by that demand. Sun Bingo neither sells, rents nor trades personal data to anyone, ever.
8. Where data is stored
Sun Bingo infrastructure runs on cloud providers based in the UK and the European Economic Area. A handful of service providers — notably Google Analytics 4 — handle data in the United States. Where data leaves the UK, the recipient is bound either by Standard Contractual Clauses or by an equivalent regime that the ICO has confirmed provides protection at least as strong as UK law.
9. Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and equivalent international legislation, the following rights apply to any personal data Sun Bingo holds about you.
- Access: request what we hold and receive a copy.
- Correction: request that inaccurate data be corrected.
- Deletion: request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Withdrawal of consent: where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting any prior lawful processing.
- Complaint: if you believe Sun Bingo has mishandled your data, you can lodge a complaint with the ICO at ico.org.uk. UK readers should typically contact us first so we have a chance to fix the issue.
To exercise any of these rights, get in touch through the privacy channel listed on the Contact page. Sun Bingo responds within 30 days, the timeframe required by the UK GDPR.
10. Children's privacy
Sun Bingo content is aimed squarely at adult UK readers. The site is neither directed at, nor intended for, anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. Should we discover that data has been submitted by someone under 18, the data is deleted and (where applicable) the parent or guardian is informed.
11. Security
Sun Bingo deploys industry-grade security measures: TLS 1.2 or higher protecting every byte of data in flight; permission gating and least-privilege policy on backend systems; periodic review of who can reach what; audit logging across administrative actions; and quarterly third-party penetration testing aimed at the public-facing site. Nothing is impenetrable; in the event of a personal-data breach likely to cause serious harm, affected individuals get a direct notification and the ICO is informed under the ICO breach notification regime set by the UK GDPR.
12. Changes to this policy
When this policy is revised, the "Last updated" date at the top is bumped. Material updates — additional categories of data collected, new third-party processors, altered retention periods — are accompanied by a banner on the home page running for at least 30 days. Minor housekeeping changes (rewording, link updates) do not trigger a banner at all.
13. Contact
Privacy-related questions are best raised through the privacy contact listed on the Contact page. Editorial questions about Sun Bingo content go through the editorial channel; correction requests are handled by the procedure laid out on the Editorial Policy page. Player-safety guidance relevant to anyone reading this site sits on the Responsible Gambling page.
