Editorial Policy
This page sets out the editorial standards Sun Bingo applies across its reviews, guides and comparison pages. It exists so that readers can hold us to a written rule instead of to whatever happens to feel reasonable on the day. Wider context covering who runs the site is on the About page, with the flagship operator review sitting on the Sun Bingo Casino homepage. Where this page describes a procedure — review production, fact-checking, corrections, freshness — that procedure is applied to every piece of content published on the site.
1. Editorial independence
Sun Bingo is funded by affiliate commissions paid when readers click through to an operator and choose to register there. The complete mechanics are documented on the Affiliate Disclosure page. Editorially the rule is short: a partnership does not buy a higher rating, and the absence of one does not push a score lower. A consistent rating framework is applied in identical fashion to every operator that gets a full Sun Bingo review. Partner operators have ended up rated at six or below; operators with no commercial relationship have been rated at eight or above. Sales, marketing and editorial run as separate workflows; the editorial team has the final say on every published score.
2. Sources we trust
Sun Bingo content draws on four kinds of source, ranked here by weight.
- Hands-on testing. Reviews are built from actual accounts opened on operator platforms, using real deposits paired with real withdrawal requests. This is the primary source behind everything in a review apart from verifiable third-party facts.
- Regulator and government records. Licensing status, ownership filings, entries on the UKGC register, GAMSTOP records, plus references to the Gambling Act 2005. These act as the authoritative source for any legal claim made on Sun Bingo.
- Independent player-community evidence. Long-term reputation as recorded on AskGamblers, Casino Guru and Trustpilot, alongside Reddit and dedicated player forums. Treated as a sanity check on testing results, never as a primary source in its own right.
- Operator-supplied content. Press releases, marketing pages, partnership briefings. These are read for context only, never quoted as though independently verified. Where a number originates with the operator itself, the review explicitly says so.
3. Fact-checking
Each operator write-up runs through a four-stage fact-check ahead of going live. Stage one — the licensing claim gets cross-referenced against the regulator's public register. Stage two — bonus arithmetic is recomputed from the brand's stated terms and the figure compared against whatever is splashed on the marketing page; any mismatch shows up explicitly in the write-up. Stage three — listed payment routes, withdrawal turnaround and minimum-deposit thresholds are confirmed inside the cashier itself rather than via the FAQ (the two frequently contradict each other). Stage four — catalogue claims are spot-checked against named studios and named titles to make sure marketing copy lines up with the actual lobby.
Numerical claims that shift frequently — bonus terms, withdrawal limits, minimum deposits — are tagged inside our internal tracking and re-checked on the schedule below. Where a re-check shows the number has moved, the review is updated, the date at the top of the page is refreshed, and a brief dated note is appended at the foot of the review explaining what changed.
4. Quotation, paraphrase and attribution
Direct quotation is reserved for material where the exact wording genuinely matters: regulator notices, official terms and conditions, court documents. Paraphrase is the default approach everywhere else, with the source named in-line. Operator marketing copy is rewritten in our own voice; operator press releases are not republished as Sun Bingo content. Where a third-party number is reported — a Trustpilot rating, an AskGamblers complaint count — the source is identified and a working link is supplied.
Statistical claims relating to gambling harm, regulatory enforcement, or the size of the UK online casino market are drawn from government, academic or peer-reviewed publications. Industry-association numbers are only relied upon where independent corroboration is also available.
5. Authorship and AI assistance
Each Sun Bingo article is written by a named human writer or editorial-team member. AI tools may step in for narrowly scoped tasks: outlining drafts, summarising lengthy source documents, grammar-checking, suggesting alternative headlines. AI tools are not used to generate the analytical content of a review — the score, the strengths-and-weaknesses summary, the comparative judgement — nor to fabricate quotes or testing results. Where a factual claim originates with an AI tool, it is verified against an independent source ahead of publication, and that independent source gets cited rather than the AI tool.
6. Corrections and updates
Corrections fall into three tiers, depending on the seriousness of the error involved.
- Minor (typo, broken link, formatting glitch): fixed quietly within one business day.
- Substantive (any fact, number or claim that materially shapes a reader's decision): corrected within five business days, with a dated note added at the foot of the page explaining what was changed and why. The original wording is kept in our internal version history but is not republished.
- Material (an error severe enough to flip the overall verdict, or a regulatory development affecting multiple operators): corrected within two business days, with a prominent banner at the top of the page running at least 30 days, plus a notice on a dedicated corrections log accessible from this page.
Readers who suspect a Sun Bingo page contains an error can flag it through the Contact page. Substantive complaints are recorded against the relevant review regardless of whether a correction is ultimately made.
7. Freshness
Operator reviews undergo a full re-examination at least once every 12 months, while key data points (bonuses, withdrawal speeds, payment methods) get re-checked every quarter. Topic guides and methodological pages are reviewed once a year. The "Last updated" date at the top of each page reflects the latest factual review, not merely the most recent typo-level edit.
8. Conflict of interest
Editorial team members at Sun Bingo do not hold equity in, take consulting fees from, or run paid affiliate relationships with operators they personally review. Wherever a possible conflict surfaces, the writer is reassigned to a different operator and the reassignment gets recorded in our internal tracking. Site-level partnerships listed on the Affiliate Disclosure page are operational rather than personal, and they run as a separate workflow alongside editorial.
9. Reader safety
Sun Bingo deals with adult products. Three editorial commitments flow from that fact. First, no Sun Bingo page presents gambling as a path to income; the framing is consistently "paid entertainment carrying downside risk". Second, every operator review and every comparative page links across to Responsible Gambling tools and the relevant UK helplines, not buried as a footnote but exposed as visible content. Third, no Sun Bingo page targets language, imagery or examples at minors, problem gamblers or self-excluded players. Where an operator's marketing crosses any of those lines, the review states this directly and the score reflects it.
10. Complaints, escalation and right of reply
Operators that disagree with a Sun Bingo rating can raise it through the editorial channel with a specific factual claim and supporting evidence. Three outcomes are possible: where the claim is correct, the review is updated and a correction note is added; where the claim is partially correct, the review is updated for the verified portion while the rest stays unchanged with reasoning recorded internally; where the claim is incorrect, the review remains unchanged and the operator is informed in writing. We do not enter into pre-publication negotiation over scores.
Readers with concerns about editorial conduct at Sun Bingo can escalate them via the Contact page; complaints relating to specific reviews are dealt with inside five business days. Privacy-related queries about data we hold are governed by the Privacy Policy page, with the technical counterpart on the Cookie Policy page.
